I saw a winged horse in a meditation I had. She took me on her back and we flew over the world, stopping at houses, peering in. We saw many a tragic thing unfold.

This horse told me, I did not have to feel sadness for the whole world. She told me this was her role, she witnessed, she saw. I found this immensely comforting, to feel that someone cared. I think that in part, she was the spirit of justice.

Horses were at the dawn of Europe. It is unknown whether the West would have developed if not for the horse. Our friendship with this creature is so sacred and old that our earliest myths have the horse pulling the chariots that carry the sun, and the moon.

It was believed by our ancestors that the horse dwelt in places on the other side of life, between our world and the next. Horses were thought to be messengers, of the gods, of the dead. On earth they were respected so much there is a rune for them, Ehwaz. It was said in Old Norse: marr er manns fylgja - "the horse is a man's fetch".
Fetch being, a spiritual being that acts as a guide through life, from the other side.

Although the world may burn at times, there is something bright which never chars. And that is the spirit of justice, of right way. Perhaps the empathy and faithfulness of the horse embodies this.
